Codonopsis pilosula

Nature and flavour. Sweet, neutral; Spleen and Lung systems.

A gentler alternative to ginseng in classical formulas, and the one most commonly used in everyday cooking.

Classical category · no formulas, no dosages, no herb-drug combinations are given.
Safety. Regarded as milder than ginseng, but still a tonic with measurable activity. The same interaction cautions apply with anticoagulants and antidiabetic drugs. Not advised where there is marked heat or during an acute infection without professional guidance.
