Traditional Chinese Medicine, explained in plain English — with the Chinese beside it.

Most TCM material online is either a sales page or a textbook scan. This is a structured, bilingual reference: what the concepts actually mean, where they come from, and where the evidence is thin. It is free, it needs no sign-up, and it is built to be read — then, if you want treatment, go to someone licensed.

548 questions

Ten questions a round, drawn from the same entries as the reference above: acupoints and their meridians, herbs and their properties, glossary and theory terms, and which classical text each formula comes from. Free, no sign-up, no email — and every answer links back to the entry it came from, so a wrong answer sends you somewhere useful.

Common questions 常见问题

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

A medical tradition from China with roughly two millennia of written record, built on the ideas of Yin and Yang, Qi and the five phases, and organised around meridians, pattern differentiation and a materia medica of herbs.

Is this knowledge base medical advice?

No. It is an educational and cultural reference. We do not diagnose, prescribe, recommend medicines or doses, or claim to treat or cure anything. For any health concern, consult a licensed healthcare professional.

Do I need to read Chinese to learn TCM?

No — but terminology is where beginners get stuck, because the same Chinese word is translated differently by different authors. Every entry here is bilingual and includes pinyin, so you can connect the English term to the original.

Do you cover other languages?

Core terminology and the interface are available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Japanese — because terminology is the first wall most learners hit. The full entries are being translated section by section, by hand, not by machine.

Where should I go if I want treatment?

To a licensed practitioner in your own jurisdiction. Licensing rules differ a great deal from country to country and in many places "acupuncturist" is a protected title. Check your local health authority.

Is it really free?

Yes. The whole reference is free to read and share, with no sign-up. It is kept free deliberately: the barrier for most people is the terminology, not the price.

Still stuck on something? 还有不懂的?

We help you understand, and we help you find the right person. We do not diagnose, we do not prescribe, and we never suggest a medicine or a dose. But if a term is still unclear, or you want to know what a treatment actually involves before you book it somewhere, ask us. We reply in English or Chinese.
