Mulberry leaf sāng yè ·

Morus alba

Nature and flavour. Sweet, bitter, cold; Lung and Liver systems.

A cooling exterior herb used in the wind-heat group, for the eyes, and for dryness described in the Lung. It is also a food: the young leaf is fed to silkworms, and the infusion is drunk across China.

Classical category · no formulas, no dosages, no herb-drug combinations are given.
Safety. Widely drunk as a food infusion. Blood-glucose-lowering activity is documented, so people taking diabetes medication should be cautious. As with all leaf material, pesticide residue and source quality vary by supplier.
