Trogopterus xanthipes (Trogopteri Faeces)

Nature and flavour. Bitter, salty and warm; Liver system.

Classically described for moving blood to relieve pain and for transforming stasis while stopping bleeding. Recorded for cold-type pain in the chest and abdomen, for traumatic injury and swellings, and for bleeding attributed to stasis rather than to heat — the classical reasoning being that stasis itself can be the reason bleeding will not settle.

Classical category · no formulas, no dosages, no herb-drug combinations are given.
Safety. Read this first: the drug is dried animal faeces. That fact makes source control and hygiene a live concern rather than a footnote, and availability and legality vary between jurisdictions because some regulators restrict animal-derived drugs of this kind — this page makes no recommendation either way, and only records what classical sources say. Avoid in pregnancy. Patterns of blood deficiency without stasis are classically unsuitable. Listed as incompatible with ginseng (人参) in the 'nineteen incompatibilities'; whether that reflects a real interaction is not established.
