Safety. Honest on the evidence: this is a regional and less-studied herb, and the traditional throat indications are not supported by clinical trials. Bitter and cold — prolonged use can aggravate weak digestion and loose stools. It is worth noting that the genus Tinospora is not one herb: Tinospora cordifolia (心叶青牛胆) is a different plant with a different traditional profile and its own safety record, including reports of liver injury; do not assume products labelled 'Tinospora' are interchangeable. Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. A sore throat with difficulty breathing, drooling, or a high fever needs conventional assessment, not a herb.
