Location. On the back, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the eighth thoracic vertebra; one point on each side.
The name means the transport point below the stomach, and it is also written Yishu in modern Chinese acupuncture literature, a name added in the twentieth century. It is a paired point outside the fourteen channels, on the back at the level of the eighth thoracic vertebra, on the same line as the Back Transport points of the Bladder channel though it is not one of them. That is worth stating plainly, because the site is easy to mistake for a channel point: the points on this line at 1.5 cun are a series, and a reader comparing charts will find this one sitting among them without belonging to the series. Later literature discusses it in the context of the upper abdomen. Its reported effects are not established by modern research and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
