Jingbailao jǐng bǎi láo ·

Location. On the neck, 2 cun directly above Dazhui (GV14), 1 cun lateral to the posterior midline; one point on each side.

The name can be read as the hundred-exhaustions point of the neck. Bai lao is an old term for wasting illness, and it is also an alternative name for Dazhui (GV14) itself, which sits on the midline two cun below; this paired point takes its name from that association. It is a point outside the fourteen channels, lying over the muscles at the base of the neck. Later texts discuss it in the context of the neck and of long-standing cough; the classical record is thinner than for the channel points of the same region, and its reported effects are not established by modern research. This entry makes no claim of benefit.

Classical record · not a treatment recommendation. Needling technique is a licensed practitioner's skill and is out of scope here.
The point lies over the muscles at the base of the neck, not far from the cervical spine and from the vessels that run up the neck. Needling here is a practitioner decision; this entry gives no depth, because depth and angle are what make the difference and they cannot be judged without training. What a reader can safely do is gentle warmth or light pressure on the muscles at the back of the neck. Do not press hard on the spine itself or on the front of the neck, and stop if there is dizziness, numbness, or pain spreading into the arm.
