Location. In the nasal cavity, on the mucous membrane at the site corresponding to Shangyingxiang (EX-HN8): inside the nostril, at the junction where the skin of the nose ends and the lining of the cavity begins.
The name is the inner counterpart of Yingxiang: nei means inside, and Yingxiang (LI20) is the channel point on the face beside the nose, so the name says that this is the same point of reference reached from within the nostril. It is a point outside the fourteen channels. Published sources describe the site in slightly different ways, some placing it at the front end of the inferior turbinate and others simply at the junction of skin and lining, so it is better read as a small area just inside the nostril than as one exact spot. Classical sources record pricking here to release a few drops of blood, and later literature discusses the point in the context of the nose and of the eyes. That is a matter of what is written rather than what has been shown: the classical record for this point is thin, its reported effects are not established by modern research, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
