Erjian (Ear Apex) ěr jiān · 耳尖

Location. On the ear, at the apex of the auricle when the ear is folded forward.

The name simply describes where the point is: the tip of the ear. It belongs to the group of points outside the fourteen channels. The English name is given here with an ear qualifier because Erjian is also the pinyin name of Erjian (LI2), a different point on the hand. Classical texts record pricking this point to release a few drops of blood for heat patterns and for eye conditions; modern research on the point is limited and its effects are not established.
