Zhoujian zhǒu jiān · 肘尖

Location. On the posterior aspect of the elbow, at the tip of the olecranon when the elbow is flexed.

The name is the landmark itself: the tip of the elbow. It is a point outside the fourteen channels, and unusually the name describes a bone rather than a hollow or a muscle. Later acupuncture literature discusses this point mainly in connection with swellings in the neck region, and classical writing describes moxa rather than needling here; the classical record is thinner than for the channel points around the elbow, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
